There have been many times where families have called our office asking for help getting a loved one out of jail but in the next breath, they say the want to schedule a visit with this person before they proceed with a Bail bond.
Although in situations like these, it’s natural to want to talk to you loved one, but scheduling an in-jail visit can delay the bail bonds process by 12 hours or more.
First, jails don’t allow families 24-hour access to the inmates that are being detained. If your loved one was arrested at 2 a.m. and the jail doesn’t offer visitation until 7 p.m. the following night, this will have them spending a significant amount of extra time behind bars, especially considering it often takes the jails 2 to 6 hours to process their release paperwork after the bond is posted.
Sometimes family members will say they want to make sure the person in custody wants to get out of jail; in our experience the answer has never been “no”. Jail is a frightening, uncomfortable place and no one wants to be locked up any longer than absolutely necessary.
When you hire a bondsman early on in the arrest process you can ensure your loved one will be released quickly and they can get back to their life, family and work as soon as possible.
